Welcome to Steimer Counseling & Consulting. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania as well as a nationally credentialed counselor. I work with children, adults, and couples to meet each individual or couple's needs. I specialize in working with trauma, issues related to military service such as transition to civilian life, family conflict, depression, anxiety, impulse control, and life transitions such as divorce and retirement. Knowing that each client is unique, I use a person centered, humanistic approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, transactional analysis, and EMDR in order to help each client meet his or her goals.  Therapy is a collaborative journey during which I am committed to helping you live the best life possible.  We are all human and sometimes we all need a little help. I believe that each and every client should be treated as a unique person that deserves the best treatment that I can deliver.

In addition to practicing counseling, I am also an assistant professor at Waynesburg University in the Graduate Counseling Program. I have presented at numerous events and conferences from local to international levels, and have been a guest speaker at organizations such as West Virginia University, The University of Pittsburgh, and La Roche University. I serve as an expert on military culture for the National Board of Credentialed Counselors Foundation and have conducted an international webinar on military culture and mental health needs for veterans and reservists. Additionally, I am a published writer on the topics of mental health, wellness, and finding the beauty in humility and being genuine. Lastly, I have served in the United States Army and Army Reserve for over 20 years which gives me a unique perspective on military culture.
